ABOUT NEWCOMERS CLUB OF TYLER
In late 1949, Frances Martin arrived in Tyler from Dubuque, Iowa, to begin a 32-year career in hotel management. Eager to make new friends, she asked a city hostess if there was an organization of new women in the area. Finding none, she set about to create the Newcomers Club of Tyler.
Frances invited eight recent transplants to her home in March of 1950, and they formulated a constitution and by-laws to establish the Club whose sole objective would be for friendship and fellowship of area women.
Through the years our by-laws have been updated to reflect the times, but our purpose remains same. For more than seven decades, the Newcomers Club of Tyler has helped develop hundreds of lasting friendships among its members. We have transformed into a club that is not restricted only to women recently moving to Tyler. Our membership decided to include those who have lived here many years whose situations and lifestyles have changed due to employment or personal responsibilities.
Members often say that Newcomers Club is one of the best kept secrets in Tyler. We are continually trying to broaden our presence and find new members who are seeking a fun place to make new friends.
In addition to the monthly Meeting & Luncheon, there are numerous monthly activities waiting for you.
